Backstory: after my own Google Photos Takeout story, I decided to write this code. No zips to babysit, no download to restart by hand. Homewend does the heavy lifting; you get your photos in plain folders, sorted by date and album. Open source, and nothing passes through our servers.

One click, three steps.

  1. Sign in to Google

Once. You choose the settings and press Create export.

  2. Leave it running

Homewend waits for Google and brings every archive down. If the connection drops, it picks up where it stopped.

  3. Your photos are home

In plain folders on your disk, every one counted against what Google sent.

What’s inside.

Open source

Mac, Windows, Linux. The code goes public at launch. You sign in to Google in your own browser.

Plain folders, on your disk

Sorted by year and album, readable without Homewend. Nothing passes through our servers.

Downloads on its own

Every archive, one after another. It picks up where it stopped and checks your disk has room before it starts.

Checks that it's all there

Every file counted against the list Google puts in the export, and a gallery to see it with your own eyes. Your photos are never modified.
